👋 Please introduce yourselves!

Hello! We are a newlywed couple who got married last October and dream of traveling around the world someday.

Q1. Why did you choose Tanzania as your honeymoon destination?

I am a high school world geography teacher. I naturally developed a dream of traveling the world after learning about so many different countries. To be honest, though, I used to think of Africa as too unfamiliar and intimidating, so it wasn't high on my travel priority list until now.

Things changed when we were considering our honeymoon destination. Rather than going to places like the Maldives or Hawaii where everyone else goes, we wanted to go somewhere more special and unfamiliar. In the midst of this, my husband, who usually doesn't enjoy traveling, suggested Africa.

We took my husband's suggestion and chose Africa as our honeymoon destination. Since we were going all the way there, we also decided to stop in Egypt to see the pyramids. We picked Tanzania because it offered a safari in the vast wilderness, while Zanzibar promised a relaxing resort experience. The most appealing part was that we could experience both adventure and relaxation on our honeymoon.

Q2. What were the difficulties you faced while preparing for your Africa trip?

Unlike Egypt, Tanzania lacked travel information, making independent travel seem difficult. So we looked for reviews from people who had similar concerns, and found that most had traveled through travel agencies. We compared several local and Korean agencies, and Ahmo Travel was large in scale and had many high-satisfaction reviews, so we ultimately chose them!

Q3. What did you like about Tanzania?

Honestly, there were so many incredible things about the trip that no other continent can compare now. I want to go back to Africa so badly! Hiking the Kilimanjaro in a downpour was a challenge, but the moment we chose to press on and fully take in the experience was incredibly unforgettable. Also, seeing the daily lives of the local residents as we traveled and getting a close-up look at real African life was a special experience that will always stay with me.

Having so many conversations with our guide and sharing stories about our lives was also a deeply meaningful experience. Above all, seeing the Serengeti plains and the savanna landscape that I had only ever seen in textbooks, and witnessing the ecosystem of herbivores and carnivores firsthand, was truly moving. Knowing that the photos and videos I took will allow me to bring a much more vivid learning experience to my students makes it all the more special.

Q4. Were there any good points about Ahmo Travel?

There were so many good points that it's hard to pick just one! Among them, the first advantage I'd like to highlight is a systematic system based on autonomy. From the pre-planning stage, they thoroughly prepared our plans and actively reflected our feedback, so we could depart for Tanzania without major worries.

In particular, from our very first day crossing over from Egypt to Tanzania until right before we left for Zanzibar, I felt incredibly well taken care of by a highly organized system. To be honest, I've never been a fan of package tours because they usually lack autonomy, so I've always preferred traveling independently. However, our trip with Ahmo Travel offered a structured plan paired with plenty of options. Since we could flexibly adjust our schedule as needed, we got to experience the best of both worlds: the structure of a package tour and the freedom of independent travel. It really showed me that an autonomous package tour is actually possible!

The second advantage I'd like to highlight is the excellent guides. We traveled with a total of three guides. Since we aren't very confident in our English, our first thought when we met the local guides was, 'Oh no, we're in trouble!' However, despite our language barrier, their kindness and warm consideration allowed us to enjoy our trip in complete comfort. (Thank you so much once again! )

Most importantly, because they were local guides, we were able to gain a deep understanding of African and Tanzanian culture and daily life, allowing us to share so many meaningful conversations. Throughout the trip, I realized just how one-dimensionally we had been viewing Africa. Being able to see, hear, and experience everything firsthand allowed us to shatter our prejudices and gain a completely fresh perspective, which was the greatest lesson of all.

The final advantage I'd like to highlight is the 1-on-1 emergency contact line. As our departure date approached, Ahmo Travel opened a direct messaging channel for us.
