We're newlyweds who just went to Tanzania for our honeymoon.

We considered many places, like Europe, Bali and Hawaii, but I had dreamed of an African trip ever since I was a child.

My fiance wanted a beach resort, but after a long time convincing him, he agreed to share my dream, and thanks to that we went on a special honeymoon we will remember for the rest of our lives.

💬 Why did you choose Tanzania as your destination?

Africa was a place I had always wanted to visit someday, ever since I was little.

At first we also considered the Masai Mara in Kenya, but we chose Tanzania after checking where the wildebeest migration would be during our travel dates.

We were also excited to meet the wild animals we had only seen on TV right in front of us. And having been there, we really did experience so many moments we had never had before in our lives.

💬 How was the Tanzania safari?

On this trip, we spent 4 nights and 5 days on safari, centered on game drives.

Traveling through the Serengeti and Ngorongoro and meeting African wildlife we had only seen on TV right before our eyes was truly special. After several days of safari in a row, even the vast landscapes started to feel familiar.

We were also very grateful to our local guide, who stayed with us through the long days and found the animals for us. Those scenes remain truly unforgettable.

💬 How did you spend the days after the safari?

Instead of adding Zanzibar, we chose to enjoy one more day of safari and spend 2 days on a hotel getaway in Arusha.

It was great to rest comfortably after a full safari experience. In Arusha we took a city tour and visited local restaurants, the Maasai Market and a supermarket.

It was a chance to feel a side of Tanzania quite different from the safari.

💬 What was the most memorable moment of the trip?

In Arusha we enjoyed a hotel getaway at Gran Melia. After days of back-to-back safaris, we could relax while looking out at Mount Meru, which made it a stay we were especially happy with.

During the day we spent time by the pool, and in the evening we had dinner at the rooftop bar.

If you visit Arusha on your honeymoon, I recommend staying at least a day to unwind.

When planning our Africa trip, the things we cared about most were safety and staying in touch.

Travel information for Africa was harder to find than for Europe or Southeast Asia, and at the time we also had to change flights because of the situation in the Middle East. The best part was that instead of following a fixed route, we could adjust the itinerary to the way we wanted to travel. By trading Zanzibar for an extra day of safari and adding a hotel getaway in Arusha, we created a honeymoon that suited us well. In Tanzania, we met nature and wildlife unlike anything we had ever experienced.
