👋 Hello. Could you please give us a brief introduction?

Hello. We're the little couple who went on our honeymoon to Tanzania through Ahmo Travel in September 2022.

💬 I'm curious about what made you decide on the Serengeti in Africa for your honeymoon.

I've always loved nature. I think one photo of the Serengeti Four Seasons I saw as a child had a big influence on me.It was shockingly impressive, thinking "such a place exists," and I think from childhood I had the idea that for my honeymoon, I had to go to the African Serengeti.

💬 Was there no opposition from your husband? I'm curious how you convinced him.

I didn't have any particular concerns. Rather, there were a lot of people around us with the perception that it might be dangerous. When friends who didn't know much would mock us saying, "Why are you going to Africa? She's going to Africa," it really hurt my feelings. But I got past it knowing they had no idea about my desire to travel there.

☝️Wait a minute!
Many people have the prejudice that Africa is dangerous. However, those who have traveled to Africa unanimously say their perception of Africa has changed. According to the Global Peace Index, African countries such as Botswana, Namibia, Tanzania, and Malawi have been shown to be safer than the United States in many aspects.

💬 How did you first learn about Ahmo Travel?

When I first looked into traveling to Africa, several safari companies came up. While searching to find reviews of companies, I saw Yujin's YouTube video about her trip with Ahmo Travel (formerly Simple Safari), and when I looked up her Instagram, I found that Ahmo Travel (formerly Simple Safari) had commented on her post. I contacted them directly through Instagram.

💬 What was your reason for choosing Ahmo Travel?

I just had a good feeling about them. I'm the type who, once I'm hooked on something, only goes to places I'm hooked on, and I liked the feeling that Ahmo Travel (formerly Simple Safari) gave me. Also, I was grateful to see that they genuinely cared for us, not just formal kindness.

💬 Your trip was relatively long - a week in Zanzibar and a week on safari. Wasn't it boring?

Not at all. After relaxing in Zanzibar for a week and doing various activities on safari for a week, it wasn't boring at all. Rather, time went by too quickly. Oh, when we went from Zanzibar to Arusha for that grueling tour, it was fun but tough and exhausting.

💬 You described it as a 'grueling' tour - what part of the trip felt 'grueling' to you? Weren't you scared about taking the small aircraft?

We had to walk much more than expected. The airport conditions were so poor that the transfer process from Zanzibar to Arusha was really difficult. Going to the waterfall the next day when we hadn't recovered from fatigue was really hard. Still, I was grateful that our guide led us with such enthusiasm and spent more time than scheduled with us. Because of this, taking the small aircraft to the north was such a good choice.

💬 People usually think Africa is hot. How was the weather?

Ngorongoro was really cold. Rather than one thick piece of clothing, I was thinking about how to layer multiple clothes when going out. Fortunately, the accommodation was warm, and they provided hot packs, so it wasn't a big problem.

💬 In the Serengeti, it's very important to choose accommodations according to the wildebeest migration. You stayed in northern Serengeti - was that good?

It was definitely good. After staying in the north and then going down to central, we could clearly see that the number of animals was significantly fewer. I could understand why AhmoTravel kept telling us during consultation that the Great Migration was important.

💬 How was it when you actually saw the wildebeest migration?

We parked and waited, and right when I started wondering why we were just sitting there, herds of animals appeared. They began crossing the river, and we got to see crocodiles hunting three separate times!
Seeing a crocodile catch a baby animal and the mother crying behind it, I thought this was the raw wilderness I'd only seen in videos.

If you simply choose accommodations based on budget or preferences, you might end up viewing an empty safari with no animals. With years of safari experience, Ahmo Travel suggests accommodations and itineraries where you can best see the wildebeest migration.

💬 Nyikani Camp moves according to the wildebeest migration. Wasn't the bucket shower inconvenient?

I liked Nyikani Camp the most. It was great having the accommodation in the middle of the Serengeti plains, and I was happy about the fact that there were many animals around. Of course, comfortable accommodations are nice too, but I like experiencing different things, so it was good because it was new.
It felt like 'glamping' too. Imagine zebras grazing in front of your accommodation - isn't that be amazing?

💬 What was the most memorable activity during your African trip? Excluding game drives, which you did the most.

For me, the Mnemba Island tour in Zanzibar was very memorable. It was great being able to see dolphins up close.

💬 After traveling to Africa, did your thoughts and your husband's thoughts change?

Before going to Africa and early in the trip, my husband was nervous and always told me to hold my phone tight. But as the trip went on, he stopped worrying entirely and he even started leaving his wallet lying around. The people were just that kind and honest.

💬 Wasn't it difficult adjusting to reality after returning from the trip?

I thought adjusting back to reality would be tough, but after checking off every single thing on my bucket list during our 14-night, 16-day trip, I didn't feel any regret when we got back home. It was truly a trip with no regrets. Oh, but don't tell anyone but the moment I got back to Korea and saw how blindingly fast tasks get processed here, I couldn't help but think, "Yep, Korea is truly Korea!"

💬 What would you say to those preparing for an African trip?

Looking back, I am so glad we went without any fear or hesitation. All our friends and family who who worried about us completely changed their minds after seeing our Africa photos and seeing what an incredible trip we had. Many of them even said that it inspired them, and now they definitely want to go to visit Africa themselves.

💬 If an acquaintance said they were going to travel to Africa, would you want to recommend Ahmo Travel?

Even today, when a close friend said she wanted to go to Africa when she gets married, I would recommend Ahmo Travel. I plan to recommend Ahmo Travel to many couples around me who are getting married because they won't regret it.
