Hello! We are newlyweds who met as colleagues at the same company, dated for five years, and tied the knot this past February. I am full of energy and love nature, while my husband is a laid-back city guy who happily goes with the flow by my side. With our different charms, we balance each other out perfectly. I love new challenges and vast landscapes, whereas my husband prefers familiar destinations where he can truly unwind, making our travel preferences complete opposites

💬 Why did you choose Africa as your honeymoon destination?

By chance, around November last year, we saw an Africa travel program on EBS. Unlike the vague image of Africa we had before, we fell in love with its diverse landscapes and charm. Especially seeing a foreign-Korean couple going on their honeymoon to the desert made us think, 'Why can't we do that too?' That's how Africa became a candidate for our honeymoon destination.

Actually, my husband isn't particularly interested in animals and nature, and he prefers trips where he can eat delicious food and relax comfortably in nice accommodations! But since we're both office workers who had difficulty taking such a long vacation, we decided to go to Africa for our honeymoon as a special destination we could visit while we're young. Africa was an unfamiliar land to us, and we had big concerns about language and safety, but since it's already a famous travel destination in America and Europe, we thought it was definitely worth challenging ourselves!

💬 Among African countries, why did you choose Tanzania specifically?

Once we made up our minds to head to Africa for our honeymoon, we started searching for a captivating destination where we could experience a wide variety of activities and unique vibes.

Then we discovered Zanzibar, which has a strong resort atmosphere, and we were convinced that in Tanzania we could enjoy unique activities and experience the African natural scenery we had been dreaming of! And when we looked at blogs and various Africa travel reviews, we learned that various experiences including coffee tours were possible, so our couple chose Tanzania as our honeymoon destination without hesitation.

💬 What difficulties did you face while preparing for your Africa trip?

After deciding on Tanzania as our honeymoon destination, gathering travel information turned out to be more difficult than expected. From unfamiliar regional information to complex tour arrangements and booking methods, we were at a loss about where and how to start preparing. Especially as a couple who wasn't confident about communicating in English, directly contacting local tour companies to make reservations felt like an even bigger burden. 💬 How was Zanzibar with its strong resort atmosphere?

After entering Tanzania, we spent 2 nights in Zanzibar enjoying snorkeling and relaxation.

Most people traveling to Tanzania usually enjoy the Serengeti tour first and then move to Zanzibar for relaxation, but we headed to Zanzibar first to recover our tired minds and bodies from the long flight of over 12 hours.

For couples going to Africa for their honeymoon right after their wedding, I recommend putting Zanzibar first in the itinerary!

We enjoyed looking at the blue sea to our heart's content, tasted local fruits on the snorkeling boat, and experienced snorkeling! Many people think only of vast grasslands and wild animals when they think of Africa, but in Zanzibar you can enjoy relaxation while looking at the ocean.

On Zanzibar's Mnemba Island, we did a dolphin tour! We could see dolphins up close while riding a boat in the rolling waves🐬

After water activities in Zanzibar, we enjoyed delicious meals too!

💬 How was the safari tour?

After Zanzibar, we headed to the Serengeti for game drives and a balloon safari, where we got to see African wildlife right before our eyes. When we arrived, we met Godson, our local guide from Ahmo Travel. Even though our English was a bit limited, he was incredibly friendly and easy to talk to, making us feel right at home. Between his warm personality and his amazing driving skills, we were so grateful to have Godson by our side throughout our entire Tanzania trip.

On our first day in Serengeti, we did a game drive and saw wild animals up close. We were really lucky to even capture a scene of three cheetahs hunting wildebeest! The cheetahs were really fast, and that hunting scene is still vivid in my memory. Although I'd seen such scenes many times in African documentary programs, seeing cheetahs hunt in person felt completely different

Besides cheetahs, we also saw the great migration of wildebeest! It was an amazing wild scene.

And through the balloon safari experience, we could see the entire panoramic view of the vast Serengeti from high in the sky. Seeing the wild animals we'd only seen in documentaries so vividly through game drives and balloon safaris was truly meaningful.

The morning scenery we experienced in Serengeti was also really beautiful.

And the small event prepared by the Tarangire accommodation on the last day of our game drive was also touching!

💬 How was the Arusha itinerary?

After fully enjoying the African safari, we moved to Arusha for a Materuni Falls & coffee tour.

The Materuni Falls tour is something I definitely want to recommend from the Arusha itinerary! We felt the cool mist from the waterfall right in front of where it was falling.

Lastly, the coffee tour was a fun experience where I could truly feel the African spirit while enjoying the entire process of threshing and roasting the beans together. I was able to happily wrap up the Tanzania tour by humming the song 'Jambo Jambo Bwana' with the locals. Also, during this trip to Tanzania, I even sampled regional beers from Savannah, Kilimanjaro, and Serengeti! I really hope Tanzanian beer comes to Korea so we can enjoy it!

Q7. Were there any good points about Ahmo Travel?
