Africa Honeymoon Itinerary by a Newlywed Couple (Victoria Falls, Botswana, South Africa & Mauritius)
Zanzibar - Serengeti - Ngorongoro

We've adapted the review sent by our customers into an interview format.
👋 Please introduce yourselves!

🙋♂️[Pyogwang] I'm Park Pyogwang, born in 1995, and I work at an agriculture-related company. Back in college, I participated in an agriculture-related program and lived in Uganda, Africa for about 6 months. My MBTI is INTJ.

🙋♀️[Suhee] Hello, I'm Jang Suhee, also born in 1995, so my husband and I are the same age. I work in technical sales at a telecommunications company and have been living in Seoul for about 2 years. My MBTI is ENTP.
We're both from Daegu, and we met through a senior's introduction in Daegu haha From our very first blind date meeting, We soon realized we both had Tanzania at the very top of our bucket lists.
💬 Why did you choose Africa as your honeymoon destination?

🙋♂️[Pyogwang] When I lived in Uganda for 6 months, I heard a lot of stories about safari tours in Tanzania, Botswana, Kenya, and other places. I did go on safari tours in Uganda, but I had some regrets, so I always thought about wanting to go back to Africa.
🙋♀️[Suhee] I studied world geography enthusiastically when I was a student. That's when I learned about Tanzania and first thought about wanting to visit. I especially wanted to go to Zanzibar, which is Tanzania's resort area.
However, during the time we needed to visit, it was the rainy season in Tanzania, so we chose Botswana and Mauritius as recommended by Ahmo Travel.

Since we're both working people, we felt there wouldn't be many opportunities to travel far and long while we're young, so we started seriously planning our Africa honeymoon a year before our wedding.
💬 Why did you choose Ahmo Travel?
🙋♂️[Pyogwang] I was mostly in charge of preparing for the Africa trip. I thought it would be easier since I had experience living in Uganda, but it was quite overwhelming because there wasn't much information available. Then I discovered Ahmo Travel through blog posts, and I trusted them because they specialize in Africa, so I made the booking.

💬 You visited Botswana, Mauritius, Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, and South Africa on this trip. Please tell us detailed reviews of each destination.
🙋♂️[Pyogwang] Since we visited Victoria Falls first, let me start with Victoria Falls. My goal is to visit all three major waterfalls of the world.
* Niagara Falls (Canada, USA), Iguazu Falls (Brazil, Argentina), Victoria Falls (Zambia, Zimbabwe)
I had already visited Niagara Falls among the three major waterfalls, and this time I visited Victoria Falls. Since we had to pass through Zimbabwe anyway to get to Botswana, we included Victoria Falls as a stopover.

When I went to Niagara Falls before, the weather wasn't great so I had some regrets, but during this Victoria Falls trip, the weather was so good that we could see rainbows clearly..
So personally, the Victoria Falls trip left me with happier memories.
(👀*subtle hint*)
Oh, and this time I could go with my wife, so it had to be even better!! (*the hint was just a joke, and we could feel Pyogwang's sincerity haha*)

🙋♀️[Suhee] Victoria Falls was overwhelming. I truly felt overwhelmed by nature. I wondered where all this water could possibly come from, how amazing nature is, and how small humans are compared to nature.

💬 How was Botswana? How about the safari tour?
🙋♂️[Pyogwang] Botswana was fun from the journey there. When we traveled from Zimbabwe to Botswana by car, crossing the border by car was fascinating. Africa doesn't have many paved roads, but there was about an hour of paved road leading into Chobe National Park, which felt oddly interesting.

The safari tour I did in Uganda in the past left me with some regrets. First, I didn't see many animals back then. Just lions and giraffes. The accommodation was also tough since we stayed in tents. This trip was great because the overall accommodation conditions were good and we could see many animals. We saw all of the BIG5 (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, rhinoceros) except for the rhinoceros!

🙋♀️[Suhee] The best part of the entire Africa trip was the safari tour and game drives at Chobe National Park in Botswana. The scene of elephants taking mud baths is still vivid in my memory. We did game drives for 4 days, and it felt like a 4-day treasure hunt, so it wasn't boring at all. I looked forward to each day wondering what animals we'd see.

💬 How was Mauritius? How about the safari tour?
[Both] The schedule in Mauritius was a bit short, which was actually disappointing. We chose it as a resort destination to recover from the fatigue accumulated from wedding preparations, the wedding ceremony, Victoria Falls, and Botswana, and it was a good choice. The ocean was really beautiful as expected.

There were many foods we couldn't eat at the safari destinations, but in Mauritius, we could choose the menus we wanted, which was great.
(In national parks where safaris take place, the food that can be brought in is restricted because wild animals live there)

We also visited a sushi omakase restaurant called 'Kawai' in Mauritius, thinking it would be a good experience. The chef there was a Filipino chef who worked at hotels in Korea for 10 years, which made it even more welcoming.

The sushi had a different kind of freshness compared to what we experienced in Korea. The price wasn't much different from regular sushi omakase in Korea. Since there aren't many opportunities to experience omakase in Africa, I'd recommend it to others too!

💬 How were the accommodations?
[Both] The accommodations were overall good.
Most accommodations had air conditioning (except Sango Safari Camp) and felt well-maintained. Shongwe Oasis, our accommodation in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, was much better than expected. We thought of it as just a place to stay briefly before going to Botswana and Mauritius, but the facilities were so good that we'd want to return to Zimbabwe just for the accommodation.

There were really many Europeans. Especially many grandmothers and grandfathers. (While famous resort destinations from Korea are Hawaii or Guam, Europeans often visit Africa)
At Chobe Elephant Camp in Chobe National Park, we loved both the staff and the accommodation. When we first checked into the hotel, they welcomed us by singing songs.

The accommodation had a great view of Chobe National Park, so the scenery was amazing. Sango Elephant Camp was a bit more hardcore compared to other accommodations because the communication didn't work well and there was no air conditioning. But at this accommodation, we could see various animals, which was great. We could see elephants passing by just 1 meter away, and we could also see warthogs and hippos. We even heard lions roaring!
🙋♂️[Pyogwang] My favorite accommodation was definitely LUX* Le Morne in Mauritius, which we visited for relaxation.

(This is a renowned 5-star accommodation in Mauritius with 5 outdoor pools alone. Pyogwang and Suhee stayed at this accommodation for 3 days!)

💬 What did you like most about your Africa trip?
🙋♂️[Pyogwang]
I'd pick the kind local people. When I lived in Africa before, I thought the people were very pure, and even after time has passed, that purity remained.
🙋♀️[Suhee]
Two things. First, the work ethic of African people. We had to wake up early for safari tours, and our guide would personally come wake us up at 5 AM. Also, they spent the entire day with us without showing any signs of being tired.

The person in charge of our safari game drives was Mr. T, and he put all his passion into showing us even one more animal. Thanks to him, our Africa trip became enriched. He had memorized the entire animal guidebook and could immediately tell us which page to reference for any animal. I could feel that African people love their country.

The second good thing was that I found my life drink in Africa haha It's a liqueur called Amarula with 17% alcohol content, similar to soju. Think of it as a Kahlua-type drink. I bought 2 bottles and already finished them all...

💬 What advantages of Ahmo Travel did you notice during your trip?
[Both]
We had to transit through Johannesburg, South Africa when going from Botswana to Mauritius, and this flight schedule got changed. We had booked the flights separately through another site, but they hadn't communicated this change to us.

Since we hadn't received any notice, we were just following our original planned schedule without thinking, but Ahmo Travel proactively shared this information with us. When we checked, it was indeed changed. Thanks to quickly finding and booking another flight, we were able to arrive in Botswana smoothly, but the site where we bought our tickets still hasn't processed our refund!! Anyway, just the fact that Ahmo Travel informed us of this made us feel glad we chose to work with them.

The emergency contact network they create when you depart for your trip also provided psychological comfort, and knowing that variables can be resolved makes me want to recommend Ahmo Travel to others.
💛Overall Trip Review

🙋♂️[Pyogwang]
It was so good to visit a continent I definitely wanted to revisit before I die as our honeymoon destination. This was a trip where I fulfilled all the regrets I had from my previous visit.
