Dreaming of Kenya's Giraffe Hotel and Safari Tour
Nairobi - Masai Mara

👋 Please introduce yourself!

Hello, I’m Jo Hyun-young, a 29-year-old entrepreneur in the furniture import business. As an ENFP, I’m naturally drawn to vibrant, bustling places and enjoy being around people.
I traveled with my husband, Choi Jong-won, 33, who works in the same industry. He’s an ISTP, so he tends to prefer calm, quiet settings—quite the opposite of me!
We’re newlyweds in our third week of marriage, having finally tied the knot in 2024 after about seven years of dating.
💬 Do you both usually enjoy traveling?

Yes, I love traveling to lively, bustling destinations full of energy, while my husband prefers quiet, nature-filled places where he can truly relax.
Our travel styles are quite different—but that’s what makes our journeys even more interesting.

💬 What made you choose Africa?
The Kenya trip was actually something my husband wanted. Since his early twenties, he had always dreamed of spending his honeymoon in Africa. He's been telling me since our 2nd year of dating that he wanted to go to Africa for our honeymoon. He especially wanted to visit the Giraffe Manor, so we ended up traveling to Kenya through AhmoTravel.

💬 Wasn't preparing for an Africa trip difficult?

It was difficult. There wasn’t much information available, especially about it. And even when there was information, it wasn't up-to-date. Since I run a blog, I usually gather a lot of travel information through blogs, and I came across Ahmo Travel the same way. We needed a private travel service, and AhmoTravel was exactly that. Since it was our first time visiting the country, we had concerns about safety, so I think we relied on Ahmo Travel even more.
💬 You stayed at the trendy Giraffe Manor - please tell us about your actual experience!

We booked a room on the first floor. The room name was Lynn. We could see giraffes when we went out to the terrace, and through the window we could give snacks to giraffes that lowered their heads down. With so few rooms, the hotel felt incredibly personal, as if every guest was being individually cared for.We also had a dedicated butler assigned to us who helped us meet various giraffes, take photos, and coordinated our meal times.

We moved around quite busily inside the giraffe hotel. We arrived around 2 PM, had lunch, and from about 4 PM we had afternoon tea time with the giraffes.

After meals, we also looked around the hotel's swimming pool and spa, and took photos on the swing.

The hotel's most famous breakfast with giraffes was held the next morning around 7 AM.
It was pricey and we had high expectations since we booked it long in advance, but it was an experience that didn't disappoint. I told people around me that Kenya is worth visiting just for the Giraffe Manor alone, and it's a hotel we'd like to visit once more if we get the chance.
💬 What was your favorite moment during the trip?
The Maasai Mara game drive (safari tour) is most memorable. I was worried it might be boring doing it for 3 days, but it wasn't at all!
The routes were different each time, the weather was different each time, and the animals we could see were different each time, so I think that's why it wasn't boring.

💬 How was Ahmotravel's guide?

I liked him so much that I even wrote him a letter when we parted. John, our safari guide, made every effort to help us see the animals we wanted to see. Even though our English wasn't fluent, he explained about the animals in the easiest way possible for us to understand.

💬 How was your actual Africa travel experience?

Africa is a travel destination I'd like to visit again with our baby later when we have one. I'm already recommending it to many people around me! Maybe because it's been featured a lot in media recently, my friends' reactions have been really enthusiastic too. I even recommended it to our parents. If there's actually anyone around me who says they're going, I would definitely recommend Ahmo Travel! Thank you for letting us focus only on traveling without worrying about anything else in an unfamiliar local place for 5 nights and 6 days.
