We are a couple who traveled to Kenya together to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday and his retirement.

This was not a spur-of-the-moment trip but a safari we had planned and looked forward to for a long time.

With a special 70th birthday and the new beginning of retirement, we wanted a trip the two of us would remember for years to come.

💬 Why did you choose Kenya as your destination?

🏞️ The youngest day after retirement: starting with the hardest place

After retiring, we wanted to keep traveling to many places. When we thought about the order of our trips, we realized that today is the youngest we will ever be.

So we decided to go first to the places that need a bit more stamina and are not easy to reach.

And the place we chose was Kenya, in Africa.

🦬 How was the safari in the Masai Mara?

🦒 Africa's wildlife right before our eyes

On game drives in the Masai Mara, we saw so many animals.

Seeing African wildlife that we had only known from photos and videos with our own eyes, in that vast landscape, was a special experience in itself.

We also learned that on a safari, the scenes you meet as you follow the day's nature and the movement of the animals matter as much as where you go.

That is what made our time in the Masai Mara all the more memorable.
