Centro Cívico square itself — framed by alpine-style buildings that reflect the city's European heritage — is the best place to take in the atmosphere of Bariloche.

Nahuel Huapi Lake and Victoria Island

Nahuel Huapi Lake, spread out before Bariloche, is about far more than just admiring the view. A boat tour can take you out to Victoria Island and the Arrayanes forest, famous for its red-barked trees. Gliding across the water with the Andes and the forest as your backdrop offers a completely different kind of scenery — one you won't find in the town center.

Scenic Drives & Colonia Suiza

On a trip to Bariloche, a rental car is less an option than a near-necessity. Driving the classic 'Circuito Chico' route, you'll come upon a small village called Colonia Suiza partway through. True to its name, it was founded by Swiss immigrants — a place to take in Swiss-style architecture, artisan crafts, and traditional dishes like fondue.

It has a charming character all its own, quite different from central Bariloche — perfect for a quick stop and a stroll along the way. The 'Route of the Seven Lakes,' which follows Nahuel Huapi Lake, is another drive you simply can't leave out.

Bariloche shows a completely different face in each season, and since it sits in the Southern Hemisphere, its seasons run opposite to those in the Northern Hemisphere.
